our work
laceps IS MAKING A difference
The LA Coalition for Excellent Public Schools brings together leading public charter school organizations to drive meaningful change for students across Los Angeles. Through training, advocacy, and relationship-building, the coalition supports schools in growing their capacity, strengthening community ties, and standing up for the students who need it most.

GROWING CAPACITY
LACEPS increases the capacity of our members organizations by providing trainings, workshops, and technical assistance that allow members to share best practices, problem solve together, and collaborate on solutions that no one organization could do on their own.
LACEPS currently engages members in six Communities of Practice:
- Defining High-Quality Schools
- Communications
- Family Engagement
- Students Experiencing Homelessness
- CEO Support
- Advocacy

The coalition also hosts one-time convenings or short-term groups for members when an urgent or important need arises that would benefit from collaboration. Over the past year, LACEPS has held:
- A panel discussions on resources for families experiencing homelessness
- A training on understanding and predicting charter-school renewal tracks based on current academic data
- Multiple collaborative sessions to share resources for supporting our diverse communities
In the coming year, community schools will be a rising focus of collaborative learning and efforts.

COMMUNITY BUILDING
LACEPS members are deeply committed to their communities and recognize that, to make change in their communities, relationships with local elected officials and community leaders is essential. As a coalition, we regularly meet with local leaders to both share our school communities’ priorities and to support leaders’ priorities in areas of shared concern.

advocating for l.a.'s kids
LACEPS advocates for policies that support high-quality public education and equitable opportunities for all students in Los Angeles. By bringing schools together with a unified voice, the coalition helps ensure that the needs of students and communities are heard and prioritized.
CHARTER SCHOOL RENEWALS Every five years, charter schools must be renewed by their authorizer to continue operating. LACEPS coalition members share best practices, data analysis, and narratives that support the renewal process. More importantly, the coalition comes together as a community to advocate for all schools within the network.
HOMELESSNESS INITIATIVE Seen & Supported: Unhoused in the Classroom Students facing housing insecurity or homelessness are at a significantly higher risk of falling behind their peers. The Seen and Supported Initiative is taking urgent action to meet the critical needs of these students and families—within our schools, our neighborhoods, and our community—so no student is left behind.
